Stopping the War in Palestine

Dear Sunrise Orthodontics Community,

We return to you today, as healthcare professionals, with heavy hearts and a profound sense of duty. In our previous blog post, we called for a peaceful resolution to the ongoing Israeli-Palestinian conflict in the Levant. The response from our compassionate readers and patients has been truly heartening, but the situation continues to demand our attention and action. Thus, we stand together once again to emphasize the urgency of our message.

As healthcare providers, our calling is to protect and preserve life. It is the driving force behind our commitment to the wellbeing of our community, and it compels us to address the devastating consequences of this ongoing conflict. Our concerns remain firmly centered on the innocent children, civilians, and healthcare workers who are trapped in the midst of a war they never chose to be part of.

We wish to reiterate that this is not a political stance. This is a heartfelt plea from healthcare professionals who have dedicated their lives to helping people. We cannot stand idly by while senseless bombings and killings continue, leaving us wondering when this cycle of violence will end.

Our moral obligation to alleviate the suffering of our fellow human beings remains unwavering. We are compelled to inform you, our patients, and to implore you, as fellow members of the global community, to join us in calling for an immediate end to the war in Palestine, Israel, and the Gaza Strip.

Attempts for a ceasefire proposal in the region have been a step in the right direction but they’ve ultimately fallen short. Although some experts believe a truce deal seems possible, it is too distant a possibility, and while the leaders talk and consider their options, the people on the ground still need our support and assurance that this conflict will not perpetuate the nightmarish situation that has taken countless innocent lives thus far.

Thousands of men, women, and children are still reeling from devastating bombings. Cogs in a war machine they have no control over. Meanwhile we sit here in the safety of our homes unaffected by the plight of our fellow man. That is simply not acceptable.

So long as the war lingers, we need to continue to unite our voices and call for an end to the conflict. No amount of land is worth the life of a single innocent child, let alone the thousands that have already suffered.

We acknowledge that there are no easy solutions to this complex conflict, and we understand that it cannot be resolved overnight. However, if the lives and future of children cannot motivate us to take action, then how could we ever look at ourselves in the mirror, not just as healthcare professionals, but at a fundamental human level.

Peace, for the sake of saving innocent lives, is the least we can strive for. It is a call to unite in our shared humanity and demand an end to this humanitarian crisis. If enough of us raise our voices, we can begin to shift the momentum towards justice and peace.
